Residents campaigning to turn grass verges in their road into car parking spaces handed a 197-signature petition to Oxford City Council.
The residents want the wide strips of grass on either side of Croft Road in New Marston to be surfaced to create extra space for parking.
Anne Curtis, of Croft Road, handed a petition of their concerns to Oxford City Council's highways and traffic committee.
She said: "What we want to try and do is get them to take all of the verge away and get parking spaces for the residents and tidy the road up a little. It is quite a narrow road and we have cars parked on both sides of the road in the evenings and on Sunday mornings when there are football matches on the recreation ground opposite, so there is not a lot of space on each side.
