The Frogmen in Pursuit, a relatively young band (being together for only a year and a half), are Oxford's latest offering to the world of music.

Wanting very much to break new ground, the Frogmen are not the usual melancholy guitar-based indie kids regularly ususally found in Oxford.

Paying blatant and unapologetic tribute to electronic greats such as Red Snapper, The Prodigy and Fat Boy Slim, The Frogmen in Pursuit have opted instead to make people dance and dance they invariably do.

Their raw edgy sound produced by a 'lack of rehearsal and just-get-up-there-and play attitude' is a clear crowd-pleaser. Big fat bass lines, grinding epic guitar, exceptional (speed fuelled) drumming and dark keyboard acid lines are all topped off with a clear strong vocal making these boys real contenders in the world of live drum and bass.

Not content with success as a band, The Frogmen in Pursuit decided that Oxford needed a night of live dance music and high octane DJs a place to highlight local talent and provide a forum for newcomers.

This is the premise from which 'The Dive' was born. It is here that The Frogmen perform.

The crowd, usually a mix of young and old, sane and insane and you could be forgiven for thinking that it was a Saturday night when the Frongmen last performed despite the fact that it was half past eight on a Tuesday evening. Rare dub tracks with an emphatic bias towards sub bass were delivered by highly competent DJ Jason Hewitt causing the assembled masses to bob and sway in appreciation.

Things were mellowed out for a while with a live performance by local up and coming stars Juno Pixie, creating a temporary 'chill out' zone until the night was pumped up to fever pitch by its founders performing a short sharp fifty minute set followed by several encores and ending with an exhausted, delirious audience reaching for the drinks.

To see a live dance act is always great, to see them on your own doorstep is an unmissable and rare experience.

The Dive is held on the last Tuesday of every month at The Cellar on Cornmarket Street.

The Frogmen in Pursuit would like to thank manager Timothy Hopkins for providing a home for live music in Oxford's city centre with the recent closure of so many live music venues. The Dive is holding its official launch party on February 27.
