FIREFIGHTER paul claydon was left scratching his head when his emergency pager mysteriously vanished.
The retained firefighter searched in vain for the pager which beeps when he has a 999 call.
Two days later his girlfriend Lynne Smith told him to come out into the garden because she thought she could hear a mobile ringing.
Paul dug under a hedge where the faint sound seemed to be coming from, and found the missing pager complete with canine teeth marks - suspiciously like those of Jane, his ten-year-old pet Jack Russell.
Paul, of Neithrop Close, Banbury, who works during the day as an MoD firefighter at RAF Croughton, near Bicester, said: "I didn't believe she would do it."
