The funeral of Bill Barnett, landlord of the former Chequers pub, Harwell, for more than 20 years, takes place at Oxford Crematorium on Saturday.
Mr Barnett, 89, of Westfield, Harwell, was born and brought up in Littlemore, Oxford, and later lived at Cowley.
For many years he was employed at the Cowley car factory before taking over the Chequers in 1957.
Mr Barnett was a prominent member in many clubs in town.
He was an enthusiastic member of the pub darts' team, which was successful in the Ushers League and the Didcot and District League.
He was a member of Harwell Bowls Club and Harwell Royal British Legion Club.
Mr Barnett, who died at Didcot Hospital after a short illness, leaves a widow Margery and son Nigel.
