With local rivers once again running high, or even over the banks in many places, the Oxford Canal is becoming highly popular with matchmen.
Kidlington AS switched their Mac McGregor Cup match from the flooded Cherwell to a local stretch of the canal, attracting 18 anglers.
Dave Scott-Picton finished top of the pile with 10lb 12oz of perch to 1.14.0 and chub on worm/pole.
In second place was Dave Britnell with 8.13.0 of bream to 2lb on pole/punched bread, and Wayne Hagar was third with 6.3.0 of perch and roach on pole/maggot.
Points after 13 matches: 1 W Hagar 66pts (on weight), 2 A Middleton 66, 3 H Clarke 62, 4 T Lester 52.
Littlemore AS staged their Secretary's Cup on the canal at the Rock of Gibraltar where Barry Wise emerged thee winner.
He caught three chub in the first hour of the match, one 3T lb, all taken on maggot, to finish with 7.12.0.
Dave Chandler ran him close all the way to the whistle with a net of quality roach taken on caster for 7.11.0. It was the second match on the trot that Dave has lost out by an ounce. In third place was Richard Merry with one chub plus bits for 5.12.0 taken on bloodworm/caster.
