A man accused of raping a nine-year-old girl claims she was told to lie, a court heard.
Ian Pearce, 46, of Orchard Caravan Park, Cholsey, allegedly had sex with the girl in his caravan in June 1998.
Pearce told Oxford Crown Court yesterday he did not have sex with the girl, and said her mother's boyfriend told her to lie.
David Bright, prosecuting, said to Pearce: "The girl was there, the temptation arose and you yielded to it. You made a comment about 15 and then 20, initially as a jest, and you were amazed when she said yes.
"When she said she would tell mum, you said 'who would be believed, you or me?'. You said that, didn't you?"
Pearce denied this.
Pearce denies one charge of rape and one of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13. The case continues.
