BROTHERS Simon and Ross Weatherstone's Oxford United careers are over following their move to Nationwide Conference outfit Boston United on free transfers.

The pair have had limited first-team opportunities this season and with United's massive turnaround in players, it was clear their futures didn't lie at the Manor Ground.

Manager David Kemp said: "They are not in our first team and we have been bringing players in. It is time for a change and we can't keep going with the same players.

"They have got to go and make a career for themselves and this is a good opportunity for them. It is a good club they have gone to.

"I have been trying to help a lot of our players to get a move."

Striker Simon, 21, and defender Ross, 19, both progressed from United's centre of excellence through the youth team to sign professional forms.

Simon made 28 full appearances plus 29 as a substitute for the first team, scoring four goals, while Ross, whose career was interrupted by a cruciate knee ligament injury, made just seven appearances without scoring.

Simon has been involved in only seven league games this season, while Ross's lone appearance this campaign was in the 2-1 defeat by Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Ross's United career has also been marred by a conviction for a racist attack in Reading.

He was fined 500 and ordered to pay 200 costs by magistrates after being found guilty of racially aggravating, threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour towards taxi driver Zafrad Naeem.
