Carterton were robbed of a point by Shortwood's 2-1 injury-time winner in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League.
Good keeping by Martin Pearce denied Tristan Didcock in the first ten minutes before Carterton took the lead. Craig Dore's long ball found James Mortimer-Jones, whose cross was headed home by Nathan Woodley.
Chances were missed by Jason Cook, Paul Sherwood, Robbie Wyatt and Mortimer-Jones and the visitors were made to pay when Adrian Street put Shortwood level, 55th minute with a well-taken goal.
Pearce was red-carded for bringing down Sherwood with 15 minutes left, but deep into injury time, Shortwood were awarded a hotly-disputed penalty and Adam Paul made no mistake to pinch the points.
