After suffering their biggest defeat of the season in midweek when they let in five against Newport IOW, Witney Town crashed again at home on Saturday.
This time it was Ashford who inflicted the damage to take all three Dr Martens Eastern Division points.
Following a fairly even first quarter, Witney went ahead when Ashford striker David Peachey handled in his own area from Keith Knight's corner. Knight powered home to spot-kick.
Witney could have increased their lead when Jason Caffel just failed to connect with Gary Swann's cross, and right on half-time, Murphy's powerful header was cleared off the line.
The visitors got back on terms five minutes into the second half when Tony Eeles met a long throw from Paul Ribbens and slotted the ball home from close range.
For the next 30 minues the game it could have gone either way, but it was Ashford who took their chances.
Ten minutes from time, another long throw found Eeles with time to place his shot past Tom King, and then two minutes into injury time, David Peachey ran on to a long ball and made it 3-1.
Witney Tn: King, Murphy, Dunton, Cook, Maskell, Tavinor, Knight, Caffel, Swann, Hendra (Neville 64), Radcliffe (Bourne 45).
