In-form Clanfield came crashing back to earth on home territory with a disappointing performance against Purton.
The visitors led 3-0 at the interval, Aran Crumbie putting them ahead and Richard Watkins striking twice including one from the penalty spot after a Richard Bell foul.
Clanfield had their chances and should have had a penalty themselves when Bell was fouled, but then a mistake by Shaun Miller let in Watkins for his hat-trick on 70 minutes.
Clanfield went close on a number of occasions but poor finishing and ill luck denied them until Chris Hunt scored a late consolation.
