Harwell International Business Centre has scooped an international environmental award.
The UKAEA centre was awarded ISO14001, the top international award for environmental management, after a drive to reduce waste from controlling discharges to recycling paper.
Harwell's environmental manager Dr Graeme Stonell said: "We've taken a snapshot of the environmental impact of all our work and then put an effective environmental management system in place.
"But, key to achieving our new standards and continuing to improve them, is for everybody to be aware of their responsibilities to the environment.
"Without this, environmental management remains a paper concept."
Presenting the award, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, chairman of the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, said: "During our long relationship with UKAEA in Oxfordshire they have demonstrated their commitment to the environment by subscribing to the Trust's Corporate Membership Scheme and have worked with us on environmental project work, such as funding a reedbed enhancement scheme at a wetland reserve along the Thames to benefit waders."
