Rover Oxford Ladies expected to obtain the full six points from their two South Clubs' League Division 1 fixtures at the weekend but ended up with only one.
They drew their first match 1-1 with Southampton on Saturday and then suffered their first league defeat with a shock 3-2 loss against bottom club Hampstead & Westminster on Sunday.
Rover started well against Southampton and Emily Malden beat two defenders to fire them into a tenth-minute lead.
The second half was a tale of Rover domination, but they couldn't add a second goal.
And a questionable penalty corner decision in the 27th minute of the half led to Southampton's equaliser.
Against Hampstead & Westminster, Rover dominated, but failed to make their possession count.
They took the lead when Vicky Mankelow rewarded a great run by Lorraine Furney by scoring at the right post.
A lapse early in the second half resulted in Hampstead drawing level.
But Malden restored Rover's lead following a goalmouth scramble.
A minute later Hampstead equalised from the penalty spot after a stick-tackle at the top of the D.
And, with just three minutes to go, Hampstead grabbed a winner from a penalty corner after what looked a fair tackle by Sunny Carter
West Witney Ladies came away from Maidenhead with a 2-1 defeat.
Witney opened the scoring in the second half when Sally Jeanes picked out Wendy Birkett at a short corner.
Maidenhead levelled after Witney failed to clear the ball at a short corner.
Witney were then reduced to nine players after Jeanes and Birkett were sin-binned for five minutes for mistimed tackles.
And Maidenhead were also reduced to ten after one of their players retaliated.
With just minutes to go, Witney keeper Linda Billington was deemed to have mis-handled the ball in the D, presenting Maidenhead with a penalty flick which they converted.
