A long-awaited skateboard park has received a £12,000 boost.
The grant was announced by the Foundation for Sports and the Arts which is supported by the football pools, and is expected to be welcomed by many of Didcot's young people who have campaigned for the £40,000 skateboard park for nearly three years.
Youth worker Beverly Arnold said: "The youngsters have got really down in the dumps waiting for the skateboard park which they were promised by the town council more than two years ago."
The council's honorary treasurer Dr Alan Birchall said: "We are committed to going ahead with it because it will be used by so many young people."
The skateboard park will be built at Ladygrove Country Park.
An informal meeting will be held on Monday with the council, some of the young skateboarders and a potential contractor to discuss the proposals before a report goes to the full council.
