A grandfather has made a passionate plea for a fun flume to be installed in a new swimming pool.
Denis Manners said a chute leading directly into the water would be a great asset.
Thame Town Council has so far rejected pleas for a flume for the pool, which will be built next to the sports and arts centre in Oxford Road.
The council is split over the issue. Town mayor Don Butler wants one, but his deputy, Mike Welply, does not.
Mr Manners, of Cedar Crescent, told the council meeting: "The children of the area need it to enhance the fun and attractiveness of the pool.
We hear a lot about the bad behaviour of youngsters, but our children here in Thame are a credit to the town. Young people will travel a dozen miles to pools which have these fun pieces of equipment - I want them to stay here in Thame and enjoy these facilities.
"I ask you to reconsider this project and give us a flume for the children."
The mayor said the possibility of a flume will be considered again at a swimming pool committee meeting.
