A 29-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being beaten unconscious in a late-night attack.
Glyn Thomas was left with a fractured skull after being attacked in Wantage town centre.
Police have only just released details of the attack, which happened in Grove Street, at 2am on Saturday, February 3.
They believe the beating may have followed an incident at the Challow Country Club, in East Challow, where Mr Thomas had gone with friends earlier that evening.
He was attacked shortly after leaving a minibus.
Mr Thomas, of East Hanney, near Wantage, was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford, and later transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary.
Detectives are still inspecting CCTV footage taken in the town that night.
Det Con Chas Boshell, of Didcot CID said: "We don't know exactly what happened as Mr Thomas cannot remember. It was an horrendous and vicious attack which was totally unprovoked. We think this was a premeditated attack but it is critical that we get more information."
Anyone with information can contact DC Boshell on 01235 516847.
Three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in the town centre on February 3. All were released on police bail.
