Oxford United manager David Kemp has decided not to appeal against Chris Hackett's red card at Bury last Saturday but he remains as angry about it now as he did then.
Kemp said: "I've spoken to the referee and he is not prepared to change his opinion, even after studying the video.
Anyone who knows Chris, knows that he would not be involved in anything to do with violent conduct. He hasn't got a malicious bone in his body.
"But the referee is insisting there was intent, so there is no point appealing if he won't change his mind.
Seventeen-year-old Hackett got his marching orders after a late challenge on Bury's Chris Armstrong as they both went for a high ball in the 20th minute of the match at Gigg Lane, which Bury won 3-1.
With Hackett running at full tilt, Armstrong was knocked over. But Kemp insists there was no malice involved and believes referee Mark Clattenburg failed to take into account Hackett's youth, inexperience and character.
"There was no intent on Chris's part, he just got there second," Kemp said.
"The ref didn't take into account that Chris is a winger and was just going for the ball. It's the kind of challenge you get in football it's a contact sport, for god's sake."
