A 'Jekyll and Hyde' university lecturer was found guilty of luring a 14-year-old boy into a sex trap through a teenage Internet chatroom.

Oxford University graduate Dr Anthony Gray, 31, chatted with the boy on a computer bought by his unsuspecting parents as a reward for good schoolwork.

The teenager, who was troubled over his sexuality, agreed to meet Gray at Cardiff station, and the lecturer, described as "a pillar of society" in Oxfordshire, hired a car after lying to his wife, Gemma, that he was going away on business.

Greg Bull, prosecuting, told a jury at Cardiff Crown Court: "Gray is a Jekyll and Hyde character who appeared to be an upright citizen, but had deeper, darker motives for seeking out young boys."

Gray later had sex with the boy several times in a hotel bedroom, Mr Bull said.

When Gray drove the boy back to his home, his parents noted his hired car's registration from their window.

Police later found more than 30 explicit videos and hundreds of pictures from gay pornographic magazines at Gray's home in Tamarisk Gardens, Bicester.

The jury took two hours to find him guilty.

Remanding him in custody for sentencing later, and ordering him to be registered as a sex offender, Judge David Morris, told Gray: "You came to Cardiff with deceit in your heart and lust in your loins.

"You deliberately seduced a vulnerable boy. It was a pre-planned exercise. You reaped your sexual satisfaction."
