A man accused of raping an 18-year-old after a night out told police she consented to have sex with him.

Colin Munt, 53, of North Hinksey Lane, Botley, said in a police interview: "I was willing, she was willing," Oxford Crown Court was told yesterday.

Munt denies raping the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after visiting the Rendez-Vous Bar, Pennyfarthing Place, Oxford, and Colours pool hall, St Ebbe's Street, on March 11. They took a taxi together back to Munt's former address in Marston.

Munt told police: "I said: 'Take your clothes off, get undressed', which she did. She laid on the bed.

"After a few minutes I took off my clothes and got into bed.

"It was perfectly 100 per cent mutual on both sides.

"If she said 'stop' I would have stopped."

The teenager said she had fallen asleep in Munt's double bed and awoken to him having intercourse with her.

But Munt denied this. "She certainly never went to sleep," he said.

He added: "The only words that were said after we had sex were from her. She said: 'Perhaps we oughtn't have done that', and then she giggled."

Munt's daughter, Susan Davies, gave evidence yesterday and said she had heard the girl sobbing from his bedroom. She comforted the teenager.

Miss Davies, who was visiting family in Oxford, said: "I asked her: 'What's happened?' She said: 'I don't know I think your father has raped me'. I said: 'He's either raped you or he hasn't'. I said: 'Go to the hospital or phone the police'."

The trial continues.
