Ian Moquet lost his unbeaten run for Watermans A but the leaders still gained a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Masons A in the Premier Section in the Morrells Oxford League.
Moquet went down to Dave Rose (8,960, break 5,830) in the first game.
But Steve Denny (5,790), Graham Baldwin (9,480) and Dennis Atkins (9,810, break 7,180) hit back to put Watermans five points clear at the top.
Democrats A took the first three games through Robin Godfrey (11,490), Maxi McDonnell (10,450 break) and Kevin Godfrey (6,430) to set up a 3-2 win at home to Tandem.
Ray Sturgess (11,940, break 8,640) and Steven Sheard (6,630, break 6,200) nipped in for the remaining two points.
Royal Standard are joint second with Tandem after winning 3-2 at home to Vikings.
Alan Lacey (8,350, 8,100 break) and Terry Coleman (11,640, break 10,230) led the way for Standard.
Keith Gardner (9,150, break 8,900) and Kevin Pringle (8,160, break 7,000) were the star performers in Black Boy's 3-2 home victory against Democrats B.
In Section 2, Steve Huntley (7,640) and Dave Evans (6,110) shone in South Oxford's 4-1 home win over Isis.
Andrew Seaman top scored with 7,110 in Watermans B's 5-0 whitewash of Shelley Arms.
Crown closed the gap on Section 3 leaders Shelley after winning 4-1 at home to Bullnose. Wolfie Stach rattled up 13,000.
