A four-pound carp helped Ron Brown to the individual honours in the Kidlington AS Pairs Trophy on a cold Oxford Canal.

Two perch on pole/worm gave him top spot with 5.9.0, ahead of Steve Hornblow, who was second with 3.8.0, which included a 3lb chub on pole/maggot.

Dave Scott-Picton was third with 1.20. of small perch on pole/worm.

Pairs: 1 R Brown 5.9.0 & P Jackman 0.2.8, total: 5.11.8; 2 J Spencer 0.5.4 & S Hornblow 3.8.0 = 3.13.4.

The cold made the fish reluctant to feed in Littlemore AC's match on the Canal at the Rock of Gibralter.

Richard Merry went all out for a big fish and didn't disappoint, taking three chub on double maggot plus roach on joker for a total of 8.6.0.

For the second week running, Dave Chandler was the bridesmaid. Starting off by catching roach steadily, his catch rate stopped in the last hour due to disturbance caused by the boat on the opposite bank. He finished with 4.5.0.

Gerald Perks was third with roach and small chub for 2.14.0. Points after ten matches: 1 B Hutchins 174, D Chandler 171, 3 G Perks 160, 4 R Merry 143, 5 A Campbell 141.
