Vandals caused thousands of pounds' damage when they went on a wrecking spree at the offices of Bicester Town Council.
Ripping tiles from the roof of an ornamental well in the grounds of The Garth, Launton Road, they hurled them through the windows of the mansion house, damaging leather-topped tables in the council chamber.
Six windows on the ground floor were smashed, and litter bins were overturned, with an attempt being made to throw one of them through a window early on Monday.
Town clerk Anne Wilson was "horrified" by the damage. She said: "It's absolutely disgraceful what has happened here."
A police spokesman said: "This is another example of mindless acts of vandalism."
