Darren Watts's glorious opportunist goal earned Abingdon Town a point at Witham Town in Ryman League Division 3 on Saturday.
On an excellent playing surface, Witham started brightly and took the lead in the 14th minute when Ian Brown was presented with a free header from a corner.
Abingdon gradually came more into the game and they equalised in the 36th minute.
Watts spotted Witham keeper White some distance off his line and smashed a left-foot shot high into the net from 40 yards.
Danny Morgan had a similar opportunity shortly afterwards, but his right-footed effort was neither powerful nor accurate enough to embarrass White for a second time.
Witham were reduced to ten men early in the second half when their skipper, Vincent, was sent off after catching Danny Morgan with his elbow.
The home side seemed to be stung into action by this reverse and it took a brilliant save from Jason McLaughlin to turn away a close-range header from Gray, before a shot from Driver hit the foot of a post.
Abingdon Tn: McLaughlin, Thomas, Burden, Hannah, Gill, Douglas (Brown), Morgan, Charles, Beauchamp (Holman), Watts, Gardner.
