Requiring just 41 points from the final round of play in Division 3 of the Five Disciplines League, Redefield B took the title with an aggregate of 675 points, 94 clear of nearest rivals Evenlode B, writes Dick Hashman.

Rob Eden, Graham Ashdown, Annie Richards and Alina Tagg scored the required amount by the end of the first game of the second discipline. Eden and Richards had won their mixed for 30 points and then Eden and Ashdown took 12 points while dropping the opening game of their men's doubles.

The final night was hosted by Schools B at Abingdon. Redefield's opponents were Evenlode B who went on to win the match 129-110.

Earlier in the season, Evenlode's car had broken down en route to Banbury and they had had to forfeit 120 points. In spite of beating every team they played, they could not quite make up the deficit.

The Park Sports Centre, Wheatley, hosted round five of Division 2 at Wheatley.

In the highest scoring match that anyone can recall in this league, Gosford Hill B just emerged victorious 134-130 over Abingdon B.

In the penultimate discipline Ian Whitehead and Ian Watson, for Gosford, won 15-14 and then lost 13-15.

With their team leading by one point Gosford's Amber Barrett and Polly Milward won their doubles 15-13, 15-14.
