Students marched through the streets of Oxford as part of a national day of protest against tuition fees.

Protest: Students on the streets on Thursday

More than 100 people joined the event yesterday, shouting anti-fees slogans and waving banners.

The march is part of a country-wide protest being run by the National Union of Students.

Oxford University has had one of the most active campaigns against the £1,050- a-year tuition fee. It has included a sit-in demonstration at the Bodleian Library.

Stuart Hudson, Oxford University Student Union press officer, said at the march: "I think students are a lot more aware of the campaign. We have had a lot more involved this term. It has been a much broader protest than before."
