Organic gardening guru Bob Flowerdew gets to grip with plants that could help fight crime.
Bob FlowerdewBob visited Kidlington with other experts from the BBC Radio 4 show Gardeners' Question Time to see a "defensive planting" scheme created by police officers outside their station on Oxford Road.
One in ten homes suffer thefts from gardens and the solution, says Sgt Bill Butcher, is to plant prickly bushes and trees around windows, drainpipes and walls. He said: "Many burglars are opportunists so defensive planting is a good deterrent to them."
The radio show will be broadcast on April 1 at 2pm.
