An official reception was held for members of the Oxford Royal Navy and Royal Marines Association and guests from their counterparts in the German town of Bottrop.
Forty members of the Oxford group were joined by 26 German visitors and the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Val Smith for the exchange of gifts in the Lord Mayor's Parlour at the town hall in St Aldates on Saturday.
The two clubs have had links for 26 years and take turns visiting each others' town every year.
Chairman Ron Belcher said: "It was a very nice weekend."
