Oxford City A pulled out all the stops with a depleted team to finish third in their Southern Men's League Division 3 meeting at Ipswich.
Last season, after a disappointing start, City narrowly missed promotion to Division 2, so they are hungry for promotion this time.
Darren Ward and new recruit Bobby Azamian impressed with their first and second positions in the 400m, and Ward then went on to battle against high winds to win both the 100m and 200m B strings.
Glen Mitchell ran an outstanding 110m hurdles, when he left the rest of the field standing during his effortless win.
**Result: 1 Great Yarmouth 133pts, 2 Diss 123, 3 Oxford City 109, 4 Stevenage 88, 5 Brighton & Hove 32.
