Bicester's Rodger McCarroll put the disappointment of the London Marathon behind him by coming second in the over 50 category at the British Duathlon Championships in Swansea.
McCarroll's magnificent display gained him automatic selection for the British team for the world championships to be held in Rimini in September.
Rodger McCarrollHis final time of 2hrs 04mins comprised an opening 32 mins for the 5.5-mile run, 75 mins for the 28-mile bike ride, and he finished with 16.5 mins for the final three-mile run.
The opening run was particularly difficult as it was over a multi-terrain course which is not McCarroll's favourite surface.
However, it was the bike ride which probably cost him any chance of securing the overall title.
