Metallurgist Dr Colin Baker has died at the wheel of his classic car after a collision with a cyclist.
He was within yards of his home in Griffin Road when the accident happened in Towersey Road, Thame.
After the collision, his 1972 blue Triumph Stag went through a ditch and a hedge.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dr Baker, 63, was the events organiser for Thame and District Classic Motor Club. Organiser Nigel Champkin-Woods said: "He was a great chap, a real enthusiast."
Two events he was organising before his death - a visit by the club to Hambleden this weekend and a trip to Belgium at the end of May - will both go ahead.
The accident happened at around 5pm on Tuesday. The cyclist escaped serious injury but was taken to Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.
Police are asking for any witnesses to the incident to contact Abingdon traffic base on 01235.556920.
