The funeral service for Oxford policeman and Falklands war veteran Michael Harbert will take place at Long Wittenham on Friday, May 18.
The body of Pc Harbert, 44, was discovered at his home in East Hendred, near Wantage, where he lived with his partner having recently moved to the village from Didcot.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Pc Harbert, known as Mick, had three children from a previous marriage. He served with the Parachute Regiment in the Falklands war and did tours of duty in Northern Ireland.
He joined Thames Valley police 11 years ago and was based at Cowley, serving much of his time in the Blackbird Leys area.
He was born in Long Wittenham and will be buried in a family plot at the village church after the 2pm funeral.
Regulars at the Vine pub in the village are fundraising to buy a wooden seat in his memory.
