A man stole razor blades because he was upset about the break-up of his relationship, a court was told.
Nicholas Townsend had intended to pay for the razor blades at Morrisons in Banbury, but was "in a confused state", Amanda-Jane Field, defending, said.
Townsend, 28, of Withycombe Drive, Banbury, still had 458 days to run on a previous sentence for possession of drugs, after being released on licence, but Judge Paul Clark decided not to send him back to prison afer hearing he had kept off heroin.
Townsend was fined £250 and told to pay £256 costs. He was convicted in March by town magistrates.
