One of veteran MP Mr Tony Benn's last public appearances before he retires from Parliament will be as guest of honour at Levellers' Day in Burford on Saturday, May 18.
The annual event commemorates three Leveller soldiers who were executed in the churchyard during the Civil War. A presentation plate has been commissioned by the branch from Witney potter Maureen Wilsker inscribed with a phrase by Parliamentarian Colonel Thomas Rainborowe.
The plate will be presented in the Warwick Hall gardens before the parade around Burford at noon led by Morris dancers, speakers and banners.
Tim Healey, director of the Oxford Waits, will perform the wreath-laying ceremony in Burford churchyard at 12.45pm.
This will be the fourth time that Mr Benn has attended Levellers' Day.
The last occasion was in 1984.
