Oxford Samaritans are calling on local people to help boost the charity's finances and create a better service.
On Saturday, May 19, the charity, which provides a 24-hour emergency service to people who are depressed, distressed or suicidal, launches a drive to raise £105,000. The launch links with the start of the national Samaritans' Week.
The Oxford branch needs the cash to complete a relocation to a new, purpose-built home in Magdalen Road.
Many of the Oxford Samaritans' 120 volunteers will hit the city's streets armed with tins on May 26 to collect donations from the public.
To donate to the Samaritans call 01865 722122, visit the website at www.samaritans.org, or write to Norma Savory, The Oxford Samaritans, 123 Iffley Road, Oxford.
