A burglar has been sentenced to a two-year community rehabilitation order and complete a drugs treatment programme.
Gary White, 23, of Iffley Road, Oxford, was convicted of burglary, obtaining property by deception and attempting to obtain property by deception at Oxford Magistrates' Court on March 20.
On Monday at Oxford Crown Court, Judge Paul Clark sentenced him to carry out a two-year community rehabilitation order on condition he receive treatment for drug addiction at Phoenix House, in East Sussex.
Rachel Drake, prosecuting, told the court White had burgled three flats in St Ebbe's Street, Oxford, and had taken a personal stereo, mobile phones, jewellery and CDs.
He used a stolen Barclarycard the following day to buy various items. But when he attempted to use the card again at Allsports it had been stopped, Miss Drake said.
A month later, on January 26, an Allsports security guard recognised him and he was arrested.
