A man who sneaked into changing rooms to rip up trousers belonging to children has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment.

Clive Kemmish, 38, pleaded guilty at Bicester Magistrates' Court to six charges of causing criminal damage to trousers in schools and leisure centres.

He also admitted to another 91 similar attacks across the country between November 1995 and March this year and asked for them to be taken into consideration.

All charges involved Kemmish slipping into empty changing rooms and using his hands to rip the groin area of trousers.

Laurie Kelleher, prosecuting, said Kemmish was known to have been operating in Oxfordshire since an incident at Chipping Norton school in November 1995. The six charges related to attacks at Wood Green School, Witney, Gosford Hill School, Kidlington, Marlborough School, Woodstock, and the Parks Sports Centre, Wheatley. All took place between July 11, 2000, and March 26, 2001.

Mr Kelleher said: "What it seems to be is that when under pressure or stressed, he goes into changing rooms and damages clothing. He would rip the trousers in the area of the crotch, with his hands."

Nigel Rees, for Kemmish, said: "He's got a problem, but what his problem is I wouldn't want to hazard a guess."

Kemmish will appear again at Bicester on July 3 for sentencing after pyschiatric reports have been prepared.
