a drug dealer who sold a batch of heroin that killed a 21-year-old Oxford man has been jailed for three years.
Father-of-three Graeme Plumpton, 38, of Humphrey Road, Barton, sold £20 worth of heroin to a friend who in turn shared it with Matthew Webb, Oxford Crown Court heard.
Plumpton had pleaded guilty to supplying heroin and possessing crack cocaine.
Mr Webb's unconscious body was later dumped by an unknown man at his father's home in Stowford Road, Oxford, where he died. He was a long-term addict but had spent years caring for his father, who had health problems.
Mr Webb had served a short sentence in prison for shoplifting and had been denied access to drugs while in jail. He took the heroin five days after his release but used the same volume of drugs as he had before being jailed and his body could not tolerate the amount.
Paul Mitchell, defending, said his client was "extremely remorseful" that a man had died, but felt Mr Webb was responsible as he knew the risks involved in heroin abuse.
Judge Paul Clark said: "Drug dealers are responsible, indirectly, for many deaths every year in this county and much misery when innocent people are subjected to crimes to finance the habits of addicts."
