Gary Lineker heads a star-studded line-up from the world of football and the media who will be competing in the Mark Lawrenson Charity Tournament at Magnolia Park on Monday.

The former England striker and TV presenter, who plays off a five handicap, tees off at 9.30am at the impressive new course at Boarstall on the Bucks and Oxon border.

Lawrenson, a member at Magnolia Park, has attracted a host of big names to the event, which will raise funds for the Sobell House, the Oxford hospice.

Joining him are his fellow former Oxford United manager Jim Smith and ex-Manor stars Ron Atkinson, Jeremy Charles and Hugh Curran.

Mark Bright, who has just switched from football to radio, will be there, along with more established media stars such as Steve Rider, Jon Champion, Rob Bonnett and Sky Sports' Paul Dempsey.

"We would have had even more footballers had we not clashed with a managers' dinner the same day," said organiser Steve Winstone. "But it should be a memorable day, nonetheless."
