Eastenders star Barbara Windsor swapped the worries of the Queen Vic for a warm welcome in Oxford on Thursday as she arrived to sign copies of her autobiography.
Barbara WindsorBabs, who plays troubled pub landlady Peggy Mitchell in the flagship BBC soap, chatted to fans and signed copies of her book All of Me at Sainsbury's Heyford Hill store.
"What's happened to the weather? I always think of Oxford as sunny," she said, as shoppers queued to meet her. And for at least one fan, Babs' arrival was an unexpected treat.
"I'd just come in to do my usual shopping," said Jill Neil, of Abingdon. "I never knew she was going to be here."
Mother-of-two Jill, who waited half an hour to have her copy signed, said: "Babs was lovely."
The blonde former Carry On star later visited Sainsbury's in Banbury.
