Oxford City proved too strong for Banbury A, whitewashing them 9-0 in their Wilson Inter-Club League Division 1 mixed match to display their championship credentials.

Banbury proved no match for a rampant City, who stormed to victory, recording a 113-49 winning game margin.

Duncan Todd and Gill Dean, and Chris Gibbins and Andi Padbury, both won all their matches in straight sets, with the second pair of Eamon Deeley and Barbara Gibbins being taken to a decider by Banbury's Matthew Hunter and Marion Mason being triumphing 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

In Division 3, Goring's first pair of Mark Taylor and Jax MacLachlan were the heroes as they beat Oxford City C 7-2.

The duo convincingly won all three of their matches, and with two rubbers apiece from David Williams and Sue Taylor and Nigel Beer and Gladys Hills, City were easily beaten.

Will McBride and Lynne Roberts were the only City pair to win a match.

Witney B were another side to produce a great team performance as they beat North Oxford C 7-2.

First pair Graham Ross and Charmain Reid won all three rubbers in straight sets, with Andy Dennis and Carol Raughton picking up a vital 2 as third pair.

In the 2-pair League, Cholsey romped to a 4-0 whitewash over Wheatley in Men's Division 1.

Jon Meerfield with Phil Week and Patrick Warburton with Jason Harrison won both their matches, although Warburton and Harrison were taken all the way by Terry Butters and Danny Clark.

In Mixed Division 1, Abingdon beat Watlington 3-.

Roger Bones and Pam Gordon returned with a 100 per cent record for Abingdon, with Watlington's consolation half coming from Ron Barnett and Mandy Smith.

In Division 2, Colston edged home 2-1 against Cholsey B. The crucial half came as Cholsey's first pair of Nigel White and Jenny Robson took the first set 6-3 against Colston's Richard Tucker and Julie Gray, only for the visiting duo to fight back and win the second 6-2.
