Oxford's Malcolm Lewis continued his good run of form as he won the 2001 Star pool tournament, beating England teammate Peter Lofts 7-5 in the final at Reading.
Lewis lost the opening frame, but then rattled off the next five before Lofts reduced the deficit to 5-3. Lewis won the next, but Lofts hit back once again, winning the next two.
Lofts had a chance to level at 6-6, but Lewis stepped in to clear the table and clinch the title.
