THERE'S no question about it, if Tuesday's thunderstorm had hit the old surface at Cowley this time last year, they would not have finished the meeting.
Instead, the £130,000 spent on the greyhound track last July proved its worth.
Although the meeting was delayed for about an hour, clerk of the course Alex Edwards and his staff were pleased with the way the surface held up.
During race five, torrential rain, thunder and lightning streaked across the Sandy Lane track for around 30 minutes and caused flooding of the hare gulley and rail.
However, after a dowpour that would have wiped out most tracks' racing for the night, the surface only needed re-grading and the going was only minus ten after the storm.
