LORD Williams's, Thame, are through to the third national round of the Lord's Taverners Cricketer Trophy after a resounding win over the Essex champions, Chigwell School.
Batting first, the Oxon side's innings was based around a watchful effort punctuated by the occasional fireworks from opener James Hewitt.
Hewitt carried his bat through the allotted 40 overs for an unbeaten 80.
Will Buggey and Hewitt put on 46 for the first wicket, before James Shirley took the Chigwell bowling apart with a quickfire 40, a violent innings featuring eight fours off successive deliveries.
Will Eason also hit a quick 20 as Thame finished on 187-3.
Chigwell started steadily, but lost their star player Bhome to the pace of Hewitt in the eighth over with the score on 29.
The second wicket down in the 12th with the score 35, and after that, only No 4 Skandakumar looked remotely comfortable at the crease.
Chigwell's last seven batsmen contributed just 20 runs between them as they were shot out for 113.
The steady seamers of Buggey gave him figures of 4-19, while Shirley continued his excellent form with the ball by taking 2-17.
Next up are Berkhamsted Collegiate at home in the South East Group semi-final on or before May 29.
result: Lord Williams's 187-3 (40ov, J Hewitt 80, J Shirley 40), Chigwell 113 (W Buggey 4-19).
