Residents have experienced mixed success in their campaign against proposed developments.
People living in Wellington Street, Thame, are delighted that South Oxfordshire District Council rejected plans by the Economic Computer Services Ltd to make their bungalow-style premises two-storey.
But they are having to face up to the prospects of a takeaway shop on their doorsteps. The shop Smeds is being coverted, half becoming a multi-cultural food takeaway and half an off-licence. The previous owner was granted permission two years ago for half to be used as a hot food outlet after hesaid he wanted simply to heat up pies for local factory and office workers.
Resident Sue McCarthy said: "When it was first put forward it was to be very small scale indeed, but now this is very different.
"It goes against the whole spirit of that first planning permission.
"Wellington Street already takes too much traffic and this will add to it."
