Cock-a-hoop Oxford made it two wins out of two with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over much-fancied Wokingham at Jesus College on Saturday.

The visitors' preparations weren't helped by two of their players being delayed due to a motorway accident, and Oxford took advantage of winning the toss to make early inroads into their top order.

Mark Murfett trapped dangerman Simon Myles lbw for 12 as Wokingham soon found themselves in dire straits at 74-7.

It took an eight-wicket partnership of 66 between Aussie Claypole (51) and Wilson (28 no) to pull the innings round to a respectable 155-8 off 60 overs.

Backed up by some enthusiastic fielding, skipper Rupert Evans was the star bowler for Oxford with 4-44 off a marathon 23 overs.

There was also a notable spell from his son, Ian, who, although wicketless, conceded only nine runs from ten overs of off spin.

Openers Ketih Mustow (68) and Robbie Eason (32) then shared a first-wicket stand of 109 to set Oxford on the way to victory.

Mustow played some cracking shots before falling lbw to Berkshire all-rounder Myles, who finished with figures of 2-23 off 23 overs with 12 maidens.

It was then left to the experienced Graham Plested to guide Oxford home.
