Rally driver Tim Green, of Wantage, came away from round one of the UK's inaugural Formula Rally Super 1600 series with top honours in the Proton Bonus Scheme and eighth place in the open category for privateer teams.
Green and Rob Smith, whose Simpsons of Swindon Proton Satria GTi is back by the Oxford Mail, finished just ahead of their main competition Ian Barrett and co-driver Andy Coupland in their identical car who came in ninth.
The one-day season opener ran over 40 miles of blisteringly hot tarmac stages on the King's Parade at the seafront in New Brighton, Wirral.
