A 76-year-old woman has been thrown to the ground, threatened with a six-inch spanner and robbed of £2.
Police are now appealing for witnesses after the woman was approached, at 11.40am last Friday in The Cleave, Harwell, near Didcot.
The attacker is described as a white man of thin build, about 5ft 5in to 5ft 8in tall, with short brown hair and a local accent.
Det Con Chas Boshell, of Didcot CID, said: "I would appeal to anybody who was in the area at the time and saw this incident or the offender running away afterwards.
"To attack a vulnerable elderly woman is bad enough but for the sum of £2 it beggars belief. Any help the public could give us in finding this man could be vital."
Anyone who saw the incident or knows who this man is should contact Det Con Boshell on 01235 516487 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
