One of the most gripping and successful theatre events ever staged,The Woman in Black can be seen in a version by PW Productions this week at the Oxford Playhouse.
A lawer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise his darkest memories, they find themselves transported into a terrifying and ghostly world. The borders between make-believe and reality begins to blur and the flesh begins to creep.
Adapted from a novel by Stephen Mallatratt and directed by Robin Herford, this production intends to combine the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir, while remaining faithful to Susan Hill's original story.
Performances are at 7.30pm (8 Fri), with matinees on Thursday and Saturday. There will be an audio-described performance on Saturday at 2.30pm.
