A record 914 finishers completed two laps of the Silverstone Formula 1 circuit this year in the annual 10K.

Witney Roadrunner Jerry McCarthy finished an excellent 16th in 33.25 in a high-quality field which saw the course record broken in a time of 29.26.

Sally Pitts came home as second lady with her time of 40.05, while Headington Roadrunner Neville Baker finished second vet 45.

Alchester's form athlete of the moment, Gary Clench, used the confidence gained from a string of recent personal best performances to record another improvement, recording 36.39. That was 20 seconds faster than his previous best for the distance recorded at Lincoln earlier in the season.

Not to be outdone, Raymond Clench, Gary's father, also competed at the event.

The remarkable 73-year-old athlete also completed the distance in a best for the season by knocking more than four minutes off his Lincoln 10km race time. His 63.37 placed him first in the veteran men's over 70 year age group category.
