Frilford Heath's Ashley Walton and Andrew Elias finished runners-up in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon's Scratch Foursomes Championship at Windmill Hill.
Walton and Elias shot rounds of 79 and 78 for a 36-hole aggregate of 157, but that was seven shots behind Windmill Hill's Robin Long and Paul Lines, who made home advantage tell.
The Studley Wood pairing of Joe Fathers and Scott Hunt put on a good performance in the testing conditions to finish second in the handicap event.
They shot a nett 74 in the morning, followed by 72 in the afternoon to finish three strokes behind another Windmill Hill pair of Andy Vaughan and John Field.

*Although beaten heavily in his singles match, Frilford Heath's Russell Brooks helped the BB&O Colts to a 7-5 victory over Bedfordshire at Wokefield Park.
Brooks and Gregg Blainey (East Berks) won their foursomes match 3 & 2 against Andy Taylor and Will Stone.
But Brooks then crashed 7 & 6 to Chris Gill in his singles.
Andrew Sheffield, of Brailes, won his foursomes 6 & 5 and singles 2 & 1.
