Soaring temperatures caused disruption to train services across the South-East last night after a section of track buckled in the heat near Swindon.
The problem was discovered during the afternoon on the Swindon to Didcot track at Bourton in the western Vale of White Horse.
The track was immediately closed for emergency repairs to be carried out, and affected the Oxford to Bristol services. It also disrupted Oxford services from Paddington.
Engineers were expected to continue repairs until 11am today, causing the cancellation of an Oxford-Bristol train.
